Independently released on house label Deep Fryed Records, Hill lets her soul rip on “Feline Roots”. This new collection of songs by Nikki again displays her now well-known stance to champion for the pioneers of roots and rock n’ roll, while remaining in perpetual forward motion, inviting anyone who wants to come along for the journey. The songs imagine the southern soul rocker at times waving her flag in surrender, then in the next moment finding her way back into the climb, bending through supercharged blues, punk soul, revival tent gospel, rockabilly shouts, whatever it takes to get there. Nikki has never been afraid to take the road less traveled, and it’s clear with “Feline Roots” that she’s living every word.

Paramount after 100 plus years of blues music is the indefinable spirit of deep expression beyond words and notes. Anthony Gomes, the Canadian blues guitar hero and scholar with impeccable taste, personifies that spirit. The glorious result is stunningly emotional, timeless music, including the 12 original compositions on his 13th album. Band mates Mike Brignardello (bass), Greg Morrow (drums, percussion), David Smith (keyboards) and Chris Leuzinger (acoustic guitar) kick hard while never leaving the pocket.

After touring the world for over a decade with Monophoics, 37-year-old, Bay Area-based singer, songwriter, engineer, and producer, Kelly Finnigan will release his first solo album, The Tales People Tell on Colemine Records, in the first quater of 2019. With Kelly guiding these songs from their conception all the way to the record pressing plant, the new release provides the singular voice missing from soul music.

“I’m not looking to reinvent the wheel. I just want to remind people why the wheel was such a good invention in the first place,” says Finnigan. He might be invoking a golden era of soul music, but Finnigan captures a timelessness on this album that transcends the “retro” label so often cast on music with a gritty aesthetic.

His songs have been included in many major motion pictures, TV shows from American Idol, Criminal Minds to The Super Bowl.

Tom has produced 6 Grammy nominated albums , won two Grammy’s, won countless Handy and Blues Awards, 8 Boston Music Awards, ASCAP Country Music Awards, He was the recipient of the prestigious KBA Award in Memphis (Keeping the Blues Alive) and has been inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall Of Fame.

If you haven’t been fortunate enough to meet Vanessa Collier and witness one of her head-turning, fiery, and passionate performances, you should definitely make sure you do. As a master musician and multi-instrumentalist, Vanessa weaves funk, soul, rock, and blues into every powerful performance and she is downright impressive.

“I am driven to do this because I find it a total form of expression and connection,” Vanessa explains. “I love connecting with an audience and feeling their energy and I hope to inspire people to follow their dreams and passions, to find what brings them joy, and then to pursue it doggedly.”

With soulful vocals, searing saxophone, and witty songwriting, Vanessa is blazing a trail, racking up an arsenal of honours, and has already singled herself out as an artist of distinction and one we would all do well to watch.
